What if no one ever smiled
never heard the laughter of a child?
What if everyone owned a gun-
and kids killed others just for fun?
What if we took innocent lives
and aborted the product of our lust and desires?
What if we took an overdose
of drugs because we couldn't cope?
What if we let the government decide
whether or not to discipline our child?
What if we came down to the very end
and realized that we didn't have any friends?
What if we woke up, and something was wrong
and suddenly we found all these things going on?
We say, "what if", but it's too late,
our "what ifs" of yesterday are at our gate.
No longer can we "what if" say,
because "what if" has become the reality of today.
